Tina Krause is undeniably the hottest woman in horror today. She was born in Queens, New York and since she was first discovered, she has burned up the screen in over 50 films with titles such as; Psycho Sisters, Hayride Slaughter, Witchhouse 3, and The Thirsting. She began her career working with Director Gary Whitson and since then she’s worked with other directors like Pete Jacelone, John Shappert, John Paul Fedele, and J.R. Bookwalter. She’s also the sexiest vampire ever seen in films like Vampire Seduction and Crimson Nights. Whatever she’s in, whether it’s a bit part or feature role, she always stands out. She seems very natural in front of the camera and that’s what often sets her apart from the rest of her cast.
Tina has not only been in horror films but she’s also been in comedies (Quest for the Egg Salad) and dramas (Cross the Line) as well. She’s also done some directing with Tina Krause Captured and Blood for the Muse which she was also a producer. She’s also been featured in such magazines as; magazines Femme Fatales, Scream Queens Illustrated, and Fangoria. It seems as there’s no end to her talents as she’s also been a model, cinematographer, writer, and artist. She graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York with a degree in graphic design and 3-d illustration. She’s created the video covers for the films Bloody Creek and Dead North and has done make-up on the films Rana, Sorority Slaughter, and The Agreement. Tina is currently finishing up production on her film Limbo for which she directed and wrote the screenplay.
The coolest part about Tina is she’s just a regular person who happens to be in the movies. She’s a down to earth gal without anything fake about her and that’s what really draws her fans. No matter what she does she always adds a bit of herself and always stays true to who she is. She was kind enough to take the time to answer some questions for us.
GASP: You have two new movies coming out Blood Oath and The Recovered; what can you tell us about them?
TK: Blood Oath was shot a while back and it is like your campfire tales come to life. Great killer in it. Definitely a fun killer-thriller in the classic horror fashion. The Recovered is more of a psychological thriller with a twist and I can’t tell you too much more or I’ll give it away. SO.. go see it!!! These guys are very talented and have a range of movies behind them and I know this one will be good
GASP: Looking over your filmography it’s astounding to see you’ve been in over 50 movies, what are some of the ones you’re proudest of?
TK: Hummm there is a lot so the list is pretty long but I will give ya a few…. The Recovered, The Thirsting, Catching the Fever, Cross the Line, Machines of Love and Hate, The Dinner, Penny Dreadful, More Than Money’s Worth, Montana, Bad Biology and Game of Chess. There are a lot more but my memory fails me right now.
GASP: With such an expansive list of films are you finally being recognized as a scream queen? You have also been called the hottest woman in horror.
TK: I been called a lot of other things too this being the kinder of them hahahaha. I have been recognized as a scream queen a long while ago; I think what happened is, I started doing drama and comedy for a while and am still doing along with some action films. This may have thrown curve balls to my horror fans but you all will be happy to know that I still do horror!
GASP: Did you like directing, is that something you’d want to pursue more often or do you prefer to be in front of the lens?
TK: I directed quite a few things, one which won the NYC Slam film Fest and will direct another horror film in the near future as I am writing it now. Directing and acting although they are two very different things I like them both equally. We all see what happens but I intend to put out another movie etc.
GASP: I really did some research on you. I've got a lot of films to catch up on especially, Hayride Slaughter. I used to work on a haunted hayride so anything associated with hayrides is a must. But beyond film, I read that you were an artist too.
TK: I'm a fashion designer / artist SVA grad.. just had 2 recent exhibitions in SoHo NY. Hey, I used to work in a haunted house too! hahahaha - silly shit :)
GASP: I read somewhere you were working as a graphic designer when you're not making films, is that still true?
TK: Yes I was...I was the senior art director for a shipping firm for a while and did other things. A lot of my work was mostly installation pieces. (I'm a designer too). Had some work in the Atlantic gallery in Soho, Chelsea square foot show, WHYGOTS (traveling show) and some other shit. Work a lot with video/ lighting mechanics etc. conceptual Art. Mostly Bio mechanical art but more retro...kinda hard to explain :)
GASP: I heard that you were discovered at a horror convention, is that true? If it is tell us about it?
TK: Yeah it’s true. A long time ago I was walking around the Chiller convention with my sister. Someone asked if I was an actress and I said, “No, but if I lie do I get the job?” I guess that meant yes and since that day I had been working on films… that was short and sweet right?
GASP: Has anyone tried to woo you because of one of your films?
TK: Well I think we all had an episode or two… or three or…..
GASP: What’s the strangest thing a fan has done to get your attention?
TK: Oh Shit… hummm outside of following me everywhere and all the normal stuff…. I would say someone dressed up like me and asked if I would have lunch or dinner with my “Evil Twin”. I’m not sure that I thought the jester was strange as much as I found the idea of taking note to how I dress and wear my makeup and then trying to duplicate it exactly…that was strange.
GASP: If we were to party with you, what would we have to look out for?
TK: Well I would say look for the secret password to get into the place. You’d need to look for some crazy warehouse in some industrial area (might look abandoned but looks are deceiving) none the less be careful this isn’t Kansas. Then I would say find the most weird but funky costume you can find but be able to dance in it…. Now once you’re there look out for any stilt walkers, fire dancers, the marching band that plays funk, the trapeze artist in the corner swinging from the roof…and whatever . If you came to find me bubble you wind up in …ask before you eat the goods well… I might be one of the girls running the black light fashion show or I might be the stilt walker with the big head dress on but one thing is for certain I will be dancing my ass off
GASP: Just for the record are you taken or single? Your myspace profile says taken, but we want the scoop, if there is one.
TK: I have a boyfriend
GASP: Is there someone in the horror world you’d really like to work with?
TK: David Lynch and Quentin Tarantino
GASP: Who are your favorite horror icons?
TK: Hummm ya know I don’t have one
What’s your favorite horror movie?
TK: That’s hard to say… I liked Jacobs Ladder and Mulholand Drive.
Shit I have a list hard to pick a favorite ya know
GASP: What kind of music do you prefer?
TK: Funk, Jazz, Eletronica, Acid Jazz, Drum and Base, Classic Rock, Classical, 70’s pimp music, Motown, R&B, Lounge some Rap, Alternative, Garage rock, Reggae, Afro – Beats, jungle trip hop, Boss nova, world music, some punk and Ska
Really anything I can groove to
GASP: Metal or No?
TK: Not a metal head but I had my day.
GASP: What’s next for you on the horizon?
TK: Directing and writing a new movie and I got a bunch of projects coming up.
Working on a summer festival etc the party never stops
GASP: Do you have any parting words for our readers?
TK: Catch ya later dude!
