Summer is on the way, and so is our summer issue. It is turning out to be a big one, with a rather large list of interviews planned - including Ihsahn, Hail of Bullets, Lair of the Minotaur and a bunch more that I won't reveal as of yet. On a sad note, Michelle Meldrum recently passed away. Our very own Choppy has written this about Ms. Meldrum:
In Memoriam
Michelle Meldrum
Sept. 26th 1968 – May 21st 2008
The metal world was dealt a heavy blow when guitar goddess Michelle Meldrum left this mortal coil on May 21st 2008.
Michelle was born in Detroit but moved to Lost Angeles at the age of 13. It was there that she started the band Wargod with drummer Gene Hoglan way before his days with Dark Angel and Death. In 1987, Michelle joined my friends from Post Mortem on the EP the Missing Link since their guitarist John Alexander left the band while on tour. The EP was a jab at John since the cover featured a cartoon version of him amidst a prehistoric world of dinosaurs and cavemen, but Michelle’s guitar on Quietus was some of the finest work on the album.
Michelle formed Phantom Blue soon after and eventually signed with Geffen records. Phantom Blue toured extensively world-wide and in 1995 she married guitarist John Norum (Europe) and moved to Sweden. It was there that she started Meldrum and in 2005 she toured with Black Label Society. Later that year she toured with Motorhead on their 30th anniversary European tour.
Michelle fell into a coma on May 18th due to a cerebral brain hemorrhage, a cystic growth on her brain eventually restricted oxygen and blood flow to her brain and she past away on May 21st. She left behind her husband John and her son Jake. A memorial service will be planned in the weeks following her passing.
Although I didn’t know her personally, she was still a part of the Post Mortem family and her death rocks me to the core since it is the first passing of a member of a band that I not only grew up with as friends, but worshipped as well. The Mortem boys often spoke fondly of Michelle and many still kept in touch with her over the years. Her guitar style will be sorely missed as she brought as much grace and beauty to her instrument as she possessed herself. Like so many guitar gods before her, we can be assured that she had only begun to shine as the true star that she was and we are left to wonder what might have been if her life had not been cut way too short.

We'll keep working until the update is done.

Ahh, Spring is finally here. That means a whole bunch of things - baseball season has started (go SOX!), I can finally get out and play golf again, the Metal and Hardcore festival is here (see some of you there I hope), and the Spring issue of GASPetc.com is up and running. Interviews with King Diamond and Dismember, an assload of music and movie reviews, and a book review are all there for you to enjoy (or not). We also hope to have an interview with Pharaoh published soon, and will update here when it's live. Thanks to all who contributed by either writing for the site, or contributing review materials for us.
We've also added some pictures from recent shows we've attended in the pix section.
Cheers,
-Goz
We've been (and continue to be) busy on the spring issue of GASPetc.com. Along with the standard massive amount of reviews, we're going to feature interviews with two of the most well known names in extreme music. I won't spill the beer on who the interview are with, but be sure that they will be a good read. We're always working on more stuff as well, so keep an eye out for it sometime in late April.
Cheers,
-Goz
The Winter issue of GASP has been published. Check it out and let us know what you think. The interviews this time all came out great, at least I think they did.
Also, be sure to checkout Mike's new DVD PAURA via the link below, or one of the banner ads on the site. It is sure to be a kickass collection of video about the late Lucio Fulci.
Cheers,

Winter has it's grips on us here at GASPetc.com headquarters - 30+ inches of snow already, and winter just started the other day. Add into that all the fun and joy that the holiday season brings, and we've been busy to say the least. The winter issue is in the works as we speak, but we're keeping the contents under wraps until it launches. Of course, there will be the usual tons of movie and music reviews, as well as in depth interviews on both the metal and horror side of things. Don't forget about our best and worst of 2007 from the various members of the writing crew. You'll see it all sometime towards the end of January.
Cheers & Happy Holidays,
-Santa Goz
After a bit of a delay, the GASPetc.com Fall issue is now complete. Inside you will find interviews with the mighty BEHEMOTH, John Edginton on Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett, Tim Lucas discussing his massive tome about Mario Bava, the first Jason Vorhees Ari Lehman, and artist Sean Petrin, who was nice enough to design a custom piece of art for GASPetc. There are also some great Halloween themed RANTZ from our writing staff. As usual, there are also tons of music and movie reviews, a book review, and a movie score review. Check it all out and let us know what you think of it all.
Coming next will be the winter issue, due to launch sometime in January, featuring the ever popular "Best of 2007" selections by the GASPetc crew.
Cheers,
-Goz
Happy Halloween to all out there. I was hoping to have the fall update done today, but with all the late nights spent up watching our beloved Red Sox win the World Series again, I've slipped by a day or two. We have a BEHEMOTH of an update for you, with 2 music interviews and 2 horror intreviews, an artist interview (complete with a custom GASPetc art piece), an uncountable amount of movie and music reviews, and numerous rants from some of the GASPetc crew. It'll be here soon.
Cheers,
-Goz
GASP's spooktacular fall update is currently in the works. It will be published on or about the scariest day of the year - Halloween. We have lot's of horror stuff planned for this issue, but we'll keep it under wraps until then. As usually, there will be a scary amount of metal reviews as well as a couple of interviews. Whatever it brings, be sure that it will be frighteningly good.
Cheers,
-Goz and the GASPetc.com crew.
The Summer issue of the GASPetc.com webzine is now officialy launched. Thanks once again to everyone who contributed to this issue. Thanks also to Alex from the mighty ENTOMBED, Thom from KAMELOT, Torstein from MANES, and TINA KRAUSE for taking the time to do the interviews with us. More thanks go to the record companies, movie companies, PR people, etc who help us out all the time. You know who you are, and we say cheers to you all. Fall will bring another onslaught of ridiculous proportions, so read up on this, let us know what you think, and then prepare for the next time.
Time for a few of these now:

Cheers,
-Goz
Work is still progressing on the summer update. In the meantime, some great news has come out in the Boston area metal/hardcore scene. Sam Black Church, who broke up a long time ago, are reuniting for a show on September 22, 2007. Many of the GASPet.com staff will be there to witness one of the best live bands back togather again. Be there if you can.
Cheers,
-Goz
The crew of the good ship GASPetc.com is hard at work on the summer update. Plenty of cool stuff is waiting in the wings for you to enjoy. Expect the usualy tons of metal and horror reviews, as well as interviews with scream queen/artist Tina Krause, power metal mavens KAMELOT, and a long time GASP favorite ENTOMBED. There may be some other surpises waiting in the hold, but you'll have to wait and see what it might be.
Until then, have a clap of thunder to prepare yourself for the massive update that is soon to come.
Cheers,
-Goz
I've just finished updating with the Spring 2007 issue. It's all there for you to revel in it's glory. Behold the whole new slew of reviews that we slaved over, the two great interviews that will entertain you with their insightfulness. Marvel at the masterpiece that is the Spring 2007 issue of GASPetc. Summer update will likely be sometime in July. Until then, I need a beer or 10.
Also, if anyone out there would like to contribute, be it reviews, articles, artwork, stories, interviews, or if you are a band, artist, film maker, etc that would like your work reviewed here at GASPetc, get in contact with me through the contax page.
Cheers,
-Goz
While some of us are preparing for the upcoming Metal and Hardcore Festival in Worcester, we are also currently working on an update to the site. All the features aren't set in stone yet, but expect a whole slew of music and horror movie reviews, as well as some great interviews. Rest assured, you'll enjoy it all.
Also note there is a new contact address for bands and film makers to submit materials for review consideration to. Check the Contax page for more.
Cheers,
-Goz
, another edition completed...not exactly to plan, but here it is just the same. Enjoy...
This issue took its toll on me and has become what I feared it might upon entering this arena again - a job.
As with anything in life, there are always hassles and disappointments, but having been actively involved in some way, shape, and/or form in both the Metal & Horror "scenes" for close to 20 years now, my patience isn't what it used to be.
Please know that I would love nothing more than for GASPetc.com to continue for years to come, but my active involvement will slowly begin to dissipate and I will pass the baton to my staff to run with.
I never wish to lose the fun in squirming to a nasty gore flick or thrashing at good gig...to do so, I need to take a step back my friends.
Piece,
-Mike Baronas
