Brian Reitzell
Ipecac
Obviously inspired by Ennio Moricone’s eerie minimalist score to John Carpenter’s classic The Thing, Brian Reitzell’s music for 30 Days of Night suffers the all too familiar problem of not really working outside the confines of the film it was composed for.
With no true recurring theme throughout, this CD is often a chore to listen to. Dissonant throbbing and morphed synth droning are very effectively done, but without the visual impact of vampires tearing at jugulars, it’s dull.
